New work
In December 2023, I experienced a creative awakening that transformed the way I approach fine art photography. After seeing an exhibition of Miho Kajioka’s contemplative film photography in New York City, I felt inspired to move beyond the pursuit of technical perfection and explore a more intuitive, experimental approach to image making.
Today, my work focuses on experimental film photography and alternative photographic processes, embracing imperfection and discovery as essential parts of the creative process. Using simple analog cameras and traditional techniques, I explore the expressive possibilities of multiple exposures, cyanotypes, anthotypes, and handmade photographic processes. By letting go of strict control, I allow light, time, and natural elements to shape each image.
My photographic practice has become deeply connected to my personal philosophy. Just as life rarely unfolds according to plan, photography also contains moments of unpredictability. Light shifts, materials respond differently, and the environment leaves its mark on every image.
Working with cameras such as the Holga and Diana, I welcome the unexpected—light leaks, imperfect exposures, and subtle variations that bring character to each photograph. Seasonal changes also influence my work; the strength of the sun alters exposure times for cyanotype prints, creating unique results that cannot be exactly repeated.
Through this process of nature-inspired photography and alternative photo techniques, I have learned to embrace uncertainty rather than resist it. Each image becomes a collaboration between artist, environment, and chance—an exploration of quiet moments, natural beauty, and the imperfect rhythms that shape both art and life.
