About.

Sarah Lawhorne is passionate about art and Eastern philosophy. Photography has always been a part of her life, from a childhood spent behind the scenes of a camera store, to a growing passion for digital, analogue, and alternative photographic processes. Based in Rhode Island, Sarah travels the northeastern United States honing her craft. As a practitioner of Zen Photography, she believes in the power of the quiet moments of life, in the peace and stillness that can be found in the Now, and much of her work is focused on this ideology. Sarah is finalizing her first book entitled, Mystery & Manifestations, which will be self-published in spring of 2024. The book contemplates the core concepts of Taoism with over 50 black and white photographs, quotes from the ancient masters, and essays about the work. She has shown in numerous juried exhibitions around Rhode Island. She has had work published in Newport Life Magazine, as well as Creative Quarterly: The Journal of Art and Design. Recently, she completed an artist residency with Orein Arts in upstate New York. Photography has provided a means of growth, exploration, and understanding in her life. She hopes to inspire others to see the greater truth that is all around us..
